I have children. Is your service safe?
|
| |
We use only the best pest control products available. And although pesticides can be dangerous when used improperly, our licensed technicians are trained in proper application techniques. While some companies choose to use inferior products, at Pest-X we use only organically-based, EPA approved pesticides that are colorless and odorless resulting in a cleaner, safer service for you and your family. In addition, although our pesticides are extremely effective in the pests they target, for most pests treated in and around a residential home, the toxicity level is actually lower than that of common table salt. However, always as a precaution, if you have additional concerns we recommend you contact your family physician before receiving service. |

2 |
What about pets? Is your service safe for my dog?
|
| |
Dogs, cats, and other common household pets are primarily unaffected by the products we use. However, as a precaution, Arizona's Structural Pest Control Commission recommends waiting until pest control products have dried or dissipated before allowing pets on treated areas. |
|
| Q.
3 |
Are your products environmentally safe?
|
| |
Yes All of the products we use are approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and licensed for use in the state of Arizona |
|
| Q.
4 |
Are your products organic?
|
| |
Yes The products we use to spray in and around your home contain an active ingredient called Lamdacyhalothrin, which is an organically-based pyrethroid. Pyrethroids are the safest, most highly recommended pesticide on the market. Much safer than the organophosphates and carbamates used by many other companies, pyrethroids are synthetically derived from the crysanthemum flower and normally contain less toxicity than table salt. In addition to being much safer than other mediocre products, Pyrethroids are extremely effective at treating the pests they target. In addition to using pyrethroids, we also used organically based diatamacious earth and delta guard granules. |

Do we need to leave the house when you come?
|
| |
No Unless specifically advised to do so by a Pest Expert, you do not need to leave your home for any of our services. |
|
| Q.
6 |
Do I need to be home for the service?
|
| |
No. For all services following your initial treatment you do not need to be home for your service. If no one is home on your previously assigned service date, the technician will service the exterior of your home and leave an invoice on your door. However, for your initial service someone should be home as the technician will treat the inside of your house. An adult should also be home for all regular services where you have requested the interior of your house to be serviced. |

Do I need service over the winter months?
|
| |
Yes It is a common mistake to think pest control treatments are not needed over the winter months. In fact, pest control service performed during the colder months are some of the most effective treatments you receive all year. Insects and unwanted pests do not dissappear or die out over winter months, otherwise there would be no new bugs to show up in the summer. In reality, winter is the time when insects hibernate and burrow. It's true that fewer bugs are seen during cold months, but they are still there. They lay eggs, they infest unseen areas, and they burrow through wood and the ground. If you are a homeowner, you can not afford to skip the winter months. By treating for pests year round, we can drastically reduce the number of pests that surface in the summer months. Wood burrowing insects will be prevented from establishing nests and other other pests, like scorpions and spiders, will be better managed through an ongoing, year round service. |

Is there anything I should do to prepare for my service?
|
| |
Yes We recommend that you pick up any children's or animal toys, both inside and outside your home, before your scheduled pest control service. For your very first initial treatment, we recommend you remove the items out from underneath the sinks in your kitchen and bathrooms, as these are high traffic areas for pests. While you do not need to move any furniture, we also recommend that you pick up any clothing or small items that may be in the way of where the technician will spray. |
|
| Q.
9 |
Will you remind me before you come out each time?
|
| |
Yes Before each spray, you will receive a reminder phone call or email notifying you of your next service. If you use email and we do not yet have your email address, please submit it via our website or inform your technician at your next service so we can send you reminders and updates regarding your service. |

Can you kill scorpions?
|
| |
Yes Some mistakenly believe that scorpions are unaffected by pest control products. While they are difficult to treat and resistent to some products, scorpions can be treated. We deal with scorpions in three key ways: 1) we eliminate their food source, 2) we create a bulwark around your home, and 3) we attack the scorpions directly. By eliminating scorpions' food supply, you can eliminate the scorpions around your home. Scorpions feed on small insects such as crickets, cockroaches, and beetles. Our products are very effective at eliminating these pests. In addition, we also use products and services that attack scorpions directly. Customers enrolled in a regular service plan benefit from a constant barrier reef that protects the home. With each visit, our technicians use a pressurized power sprayer to spray completely around the exterior of the home. This barrier wards off unwanted pests and kills insects that try to enter the home, scorpions included. Routine services of course strengthen this barrier preventing future pests from intruding in your home. In addition to these methods, we also have a blacklight service we call our scorpion hunter service that customers may also take advantage of. For more details about this service, please view our service section. |

How long do your products last?
|
| |
Our products can last up to 60-70 days. Pesticides have come a very long way in the past few years and they continue to make rapid improvements in both safety and effectiveness. With so many products now available, customers have asked how our's work. The spray products we use around the perimeter of your home are called microencapsulates. The active pesticide, called lamdacyhalothrin, is actually enclosed within millions of microscopic polymer membranes that we mix into water. These membranes vary in thickness and size and, once applied, dissolve over time to release the active ingredient within. Many of the microencapsulates last up to 60-70 days. Imagine countless miniature waterballoons covering your yard that pop automatically and at different times spilling the water inside; it's kind of like that for two months following each service. And unlike wettable powders and emulsifiable concentrates used by other companies, microencapsulates do not break down with sun or wash away with water resulting in a more effective, complete protection around your home. |

| Q.
14 |
It just rained; do you need to come back out?
|
| |
No, not usually
The pest control products we use around the exterior of your home are unique in the sense that they do not wash away with water. We use microencapsulated products that, unlike many solvents, do not dissolve in water resulting in complete protection even after a rainstorm. For more information on what we use see our product related FAQs listed above. |
